Cathie Hren, PA-C, CDCES, is a Physician Assistant and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist with more than 28 years of clinical experience, including over 25 years dedicated to helping people with diabetes thrive. She believes caring for others is both a privilege and a calling, and she is passionate about providing compassionate, personalized care that empowers patients to live healthier lives. Her passion for diabetes care began during physician assistant school when two of her nieces were diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Wanting to better care for them, she completed an endocrinology elective, a decision that shaped her career. Since managing her first insulin pump in 1999, Cathie has embraced the remarkable advances in diabetes technology and enjoys helping patients benefit from the latest treatments. After graduating from the Medical College of Georgia in 1998, Cathie returned to her hometown of Aztec, New Mexico, where she practiced Internal Medicine before moving to Grand Junction, Colorado, in 2005. She has spent her career caring for patients in primary care and endocrinology, with a special focus on diabetes education, prevention, and individualized treatment. She joined PrimeHealth+ in 2026 and is honored to continue serving patients with excellence, compassion, and integrity.
Outside the office, Cathie and her husband, Mike, enjoy traveling in their fifth wheel and have visited all 50 states, along with Canada, Mexico, and China. Since 2017, Cathie has practiced remotely, allowing her to continue caring for patients while exploring the country. She also treasures spending winters in Arizona with her 92-year-old father.
